KATIE SALERNI

My lifting journey started as my soccer career abruptly ended when I broke both of my wrists within the same year. I had casts up to my armpit and could not run with them on. My best friend Nick invited me to the gym with him, and taught me a few exercises I could do with a cast on! Leg press became a staple in my day, and I learned to love gym culture. The guys at my high school taught me new exercises, and knowing what I was doing made me feel way more comfortable being on the “boys side” of the gym. I never thought it would become a place where I felt confident and joyful each day.

Being able to learn new things and push myself each day became addictive. I loved feeling better and stronger each day. Practicing personal discipline through workouts bled over into my personal life and has created opportunities for me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. My personal mission is to inspire strength and confidence in those around me. I want to empower people to embrace the fear of trying new things, embrace failures, and choose to grow from them until they succeed in anything they set their mind to.
